The group helps IT Services to identify any unexpected issues early, particularly for specialist or business-critical software. Testing has already been part of the Windows 11 Staff Service throughout the migration programme, meaning issues following updates are now very rare, and participation is designed to be light touch.
If your role involves using specialist or business-critical software as part of your day-to-day work, your involvement would be a valuable contribution to the group.
What’s involved?
- Early Adopter devices receive the updates seven days ahead of wider rollout.
- Participants continue using their device as normal, and let IT Services know if they spot any unexpected issues.
Benefits of taking part
- Help improve the Windows 11 service.
- Represent your department or specialist software requirements.
- Support service reliability and cyber resilience.
- Receive updates earlier than the wider rollout.
- Help identify and resolve potential issues before wider deployment.
By volunteering, you’ll help support a reliable, secure, and stable Windows 11 experience for colleagues across the University.
This initiative is focused on specialist or business-critical software owned or purchased by a School or Professional Service area (teaching, research, or operational applications).
Software delivered through the Software Centre is excluded, as it is managed through a separate assurance process. However, if you are unsure whether your software is suitable for inclusion, please submit the details, and IT Services will review and confirm whether it falls within the scope of the Early Adopter Programme.
