Pauline was celebrated by the University community today (10 July) as part of Loughborough’s summer graduation ceremonies.
The medal is granted to members of the University who have made a distinctive and long-running contribution to the University. Medallists have championed the values of the University throughout long careers and consistently performed above-and-beyond the call of their duties.
Over the last decade, Pauline has contributed significantly to the University’s People Strategy. She has designed and delivered training programmes, and provided coaching, mentoring, and organisational support to enhance staff capability and our overall staff experience. In that time, she has become a defining presence at Loughborough.
In her role as Senior Learning and Development Adviser, Pauline’s ‘Springboard’ training sessions for women have been described as “life-changing”, a testament to her passion for empowering colleagues at every stage of their careers.
Behind the scenes, she has invested enormous time and care in guiding graduate management trainees, placement students, and staff across the University. With patience, insight, and encouragement, she has helped many grow in confidence and realise their potential. For countless individuals, her support has marked a turning point in both their professional and personal journeys.
Many colleagues will also know Pauline through the University's Welcome to Loughborough sessions, graduation ceremonies and staff celebrations, where her warmth and enthusiasm have helped create a welcoming and inclusive environment.
What makes Pauline’s contribution so special is not only what she does, but the way she does it. She treats every interaction with care and respect, listens deeply, and ensures people feel valued.
Reflecting on receiving the medal, Pauline said: “To receive one of the highest accolades from one of the top 10 universities in the entire UK, professionally, it means the world to me! Just wow! To be recognised for doing a job I've loved, into which I've poured my heart and energy, has had me reeling for months.
“I cannot thank enough this grand, diverse, outstanding institution and its extraordinary people. We strive towards excellence together.”
As Pauline prepares to retire this September, she leaves an extraordinary legacy of service, leadership and kindness. The colleagues she has mentored and inspired will continue to shape the University community for many years to come.
Congratulations, Pauline, on this well-deserved recognition.
