Changes to campus car parking at Loughborough University

An aerial view of Loughborough Business School with a pretty red sunset.

From 6 October 2025, we will be implementing several changes to car parking.

  • Staff weekly cap
  • Visitor charges
  • Penalty Charge Notice Charges

Staff weekly cap

The weekly cap for staff charges is being compressed over 3 days rather than the current 4.5 days. This is being introduced to address the disparity for staff working on site every day, compared to staff who work dynamically.

Please note the total weekly charge for staff remains unchanged. Staff parking will also remain free of charge on Saturdays and Sundays. The updated charges for the week are as follows:

  • Grades 1-3 – free of charge
  • Grades 4-5 – 32p up to 5 hours/64p over 5 hours (cap remains at £1.92 per week)
  • Grades 6-7 – 57p up to 5 hours/£1.13 over 5 hours (cap remains at £3.39 per week)
  • Grades 8+ – 97p up to 5 hours/£1.93 over 5 hours (cap remains at £5.77 per week).

Changes to visitor charges

The changes to visitor parking on the main campus will be as follows:

  • No more option for two-hour parking on the main campus (the short stay car park should be used instead)
  • Up to 4 hours - £3.50
  • Full day - £7
  • Evenings (6pm to 8am) - £1
  • Saturdays (up to 24 hours) - £1
  • Sundays (up to 24 hours) - £1

We are working hard to restrict visitor parking to bona fide visitors only. One way we are tackling this is by only allowing visitors onto campus using our main entrances on Epinal Way and Ashby Road, which are managed by Security.

Information about Parking Charge Notices (PCN)

Any unregistered vehicles will be subject to a PCN. PCNs will also be issued to any vehicle found to be parked in breach of the motor vehicle use terms and conditions. A breach of these terms and conditions includes, but is not limited to:

  • Parking anywhere on campus other than in a dedicated marked bay
  • Causing an obstruction
  • Exceeding the maximum stay/wait time
  • Failure to display a Blue Badge and not paying for parking
  • Incorrect use of parking bays
  • Parking in a restricted area
  • Parking on grass, verge, or footpath
  • Expired parking session
  • Unauthorised parking
  • Parking in a bay reserved for another, eg NCSEM patient-only bays.

The charge for a PCN will also be increasing to £70, discounted to £35 if paid within 14 days.

Additional information for staff

All vehicles staying on campus for a period greater than 30 minutes must be registered to park.

Full details about staff parking can be found on our website. Please ensure you check regularly that your vehicle information and bank card details are valid.

Staff on Grades 1-3 can continue to park free of charge, but their vehicle must still be registered.

Parking at the Creative Arts estate is restricted to permit holders only from Monday to Friday between 6am-6pm. Any visitors using the car park during this period will be subject to a PCN.

Short stay parking is in operation at the Swimming Pool car park, allowing a maximum stay of 2 hours. PCNs are issued for any stay beyond 2 hours - this includes all staff. Please visit the website for more details.
