The University is looking forward to welcoming staff and students to a week-long programme of activities raising awareness of Para Sport and Disability Sport.

Para and Disability Sport Takeover Week (PDSTW) celebrates the inclusivity and adaptability of sport and physical activity at Loughborough. The week will highlight the incredible opportunities available for disabled people on campus. Sessions are open to everyone, demonstrating how accessible and adaptable our sport offering can be.

The week also provides a platform to challenge misconceptions about disabled people being active and involved in sport, while encouraging us all to reflect on how proactive we are in supporting disabled students within our programmes.

This year, the focus shifts from a full para and disability sport ‘takeover’ to highlighting the adaptability of sport. While some sessions will feature specific para and disability sports, many will remain part of the regular timetable.

The week will also include contributions from Recreational Sport, Social Sport, Athletic Union (AU) clubs, Intra-Mural Sport (IMS) and the Coach and Volunteer Academy, alongside opportunities to get involved in gym sessions and networking meetups.

All events are open to students, with Recreational Sport sessions open to staff too.

The timetable for the week is as follows:

  • Monday 3 November - Sunday 9 November: Recreational Sport weekly timetable takeover
  • Monday 3 November: Coach and Volunteer Academy briefing
  • Tuesday 4 November: Powerbase gym session
  • Tuesday 4 November: Coached padel session (Athletic Union)
  • Wednesday 5 November: Coffee & networking session
