Choosing your accommodation for 2024

Where should you live next year? The Accommodation Team are here to make the decision easy and help you make the right choice for you.

You have two options for accommodation next year – reapply to live in halls or move out to town.

There are many benefits of returning to halls, including:

  • All utility bills and WiFi are included
  • No hidden costs or in-year price increases
  • 39 or 41 week lets, so you don’t pay over the summer
  • Great location to campus facilities, sports and societies
  • No travel costs getting to campus
  • Dedicated cleaning, maintenance and 24-hour security teams
  • Hall communities and events to help you make the most out of your university experience
  • The option to live with your friends (rooms are allocated at the Warden’s discretion and we do our best to put you together, but it’s not guaranteed)

Applications for returning to halls close February 16 – don’t miss out!

Living in town

We recommend using StudentPad, a Loughborough University website where the Student Accommodation Centre advertises private landlords.

Every landlord and property on StudentPad is DASH Accredited, meaning they comply with the latest legislations. The University also inspects all properties advertised on StudentPad, making it the only place to find University-approved accommodation in Loughborough.

Once you find a property you like, contact the landlord to arrange a viewing using the phone number associated with the property.  Make sure you understand your responsibilities when signing a contract - for a typical five-bed property in Loughborough, your shared liability to the landlord could be £30,000 or more, even if you never move into the property.

When should you apply for accommodation?

There’s no need to rush into any decisions. Take time to understand the options available to you.

We recommend that you wait until after your first Semester exams to have a better idea about your own academic progression. You have plenty of time to research your options, and don’t forget you can always access a range of online resources on the Student Accommodation Centre’s website.
