LGBT+ Staff Network: Co-Chair appointments announced

The LGBT+ Staff Network is delighted to announce it has elected two Co-Chairs to lead the group, following a decision to establish leadership positions representing both Professional Services and Academic staff.

Dr Chris McLeod, a Lecturer based in the School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences (SSEHS) has been re-elected to the position after serving on the Committee for two years as Chair, in addition to a previous two years leading the LGBT+ Student Association.

Stevie Ashurst, who previously sat on the Committee as Media and Communications Lead, works as a Senior Web Designer and Developer in Marketing and Advancement (M&A) and will represent Professional Services staff.

Speaking about the news, Stevie said: “Thank you so much for members’ votes of confidence. I am delighted to be able to support and represent the LGBT+ Staff Network and I will endeavour to live up to the high standards already set within our network. My aim for the future is to take on challenges facing our LGBT+ community, to ensure our community is given the visibility it needs and to do what I can to support LGBT+ colleagues across both our Loughborough and London campuses.”

Chris commented: “I am very grateful to have been re-elected as the Network’s (co-)Chair. I greatly look forward to working alongside Stevie in this newly formed co-Chair role, and I hope to be as useful as possible as I continue to serve the community that means so much to me.”
