LU Arts’ Student Live Lounge to showcase the talent at Loughborough University London

The Student Live Lounge – previously known as Acoustic Night – will take place in London for the first time later this month.

The open mic event, which takes place on 30 November, has been organised by postgraduate student Alessandro Grasso, who will also be hosting the event. So, if you enjoy live music and discovering new music then come along for a special laid-back evening celebrating the talent of students from Loughborough University London.

Alessandro himself is a regular on the open mic scene, and has planned a varied line-up of musicians and singers from a wide range of genres alongside performances from other art forms.

Talking about the upcoming Student Live Lounge, Alessandro said: "I am impressed by the variety of talents we have at Loughborough London. Acts will include anything from English songwriters to dancers and Chinese & Indian music."

The event will take place at Grow in Hackney and is free for all (aged 18+) to attend. Those who would like to watch the show need to sign up for tickets here.

Any Loughborough University London students can book a slot to perform, but this must be done in advance via an online form, as spaces are limited. The LU Arts team and Alessandro are keen for the programme to reflect the diversity of musicians in London so would welcome interest from musicians of any genre to register their interest.

There will be a PA, microphones, electric piano, monitors and a sound engineer available at the venue, so just yourself and your instrument will be all you need. Singers are welcome to bring their own backing track.

Accessibility

The ground floor inside space and main stage at Grow Hackney are on level ground and are wheelchair accessible. Part of the bar counter is also lowered and there is an accessible toilet. Access to the canalside and mezzanine is via steps and, unfortunately, there is no ramp or lift access to these areas. If you have any specific access needs, please let LU Arts know via the booking form or email luarts@lboro.ac.uk
