Loughborough establishes new committee focused on Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

Reporting to the Human Resources Committee (HRC), a new committee focused exclusively on issues of equality, diversity and inclusion at Loughborough has been established.

Chaired by Veronica Moore, Head of Student Wellbeing and Inclusivity and Co-Chair of the BAME Staff Network, the committee is accountable for:

  • Governing the leadership, development and implementation of the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion strategy
  • Supporting Council in its duty to ensure the university’s legal compliance with the Equalities Act 2010 and its intended aim of protecting people from discrimination in the workplace
  • Planning communication and implementation of Phase I of the Race Equity strategy
  • Advising HRC on matters pertaining to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.

The committee will be supported by an EDI Advisory Forum which will be chaired by Angela Dy, Senior Lecturer in Entrepreneurship and Advocacy Lead for the BAME Staff Network.

Both the committee and the advisory forum are exciting and positive developments for our aspiration of ensuring that Loughborough is an inclusive work and study environment with equity of opportunity for all colleagues and students.
