Two students at the Language Centre

Find out what The Language Centre at Loughborough has to offer

The Language Team has 22 tutors from around the world, dedicated to helping you develop skills to communicate in different languages.

The Centre offers both modules for credit and evening classes so you can learn a language in the way that best suits you. These are available for staff, students and the general public.

Language modules are offered in a single-semester, 10-credit format in French, German or Spanish. These are offered at a range of levels from complete beginners to the equivalent of final-year degree level. Mandarin Chinese is also available at levels 1-6.

The modules are available to students across nearly all degrees and participants have been increasing year on year from around 700 to around 1,100.

These classes make a great addition to a degree as employers value language and intercultural skills. Every year students go on to secure jobs or placements because of their language skills.

You can register for these modules here.

Evening classes will be running online this semester. The first programme begins the week commencing 12 October with fast track classes in French, German and Spanish. There will also be beginner and post-beginner classes in Italian, Japanese, Mandarin and Russian. More information is available here.
