Sustainability team invites students to week of roadshows across campus

The University’s Sustainability team looks forward to meeting students across campus next week as part of a series of roadshow events where they hope to inform, educate and inspire.

This year has been a monumental one for sustainability, with the likes of Greta Thunberg and Sir David Attenborough highlighting the major environmental concerns society needs to address.

At the Freshers’ Bazaar, over 300 students visited the team and played their recycling game as well as listening to their advice on what students can do to reduce food waste and their consumption of single-use plastics.

For students who weren’t able to meet the team at the Bazaar, there’s another opportunity to find out more at their roadshows which take place next week.

They will be running every day from 11am-2pm and we will be based at the following locations on campus:

  • Monday 14 October - David Collett
  • Tuesday 15 October – The (UPP) Hub
  • Wednesday 16 October – Whitworth Tower Building
  • Thursday 17 October – Towers
  • Friday 18 October – Falkner Eggington

The theme of this year’s roadshows is ‘Protect Our Planet’, which aims to educate students on their environmental impact during their time at university and the actions they can take to minimise damage to the planet.

The team can speak to students about all things sustainability, from reducing consumption to saving energy and recycling correctly. They’ll be freebies, quizzes and even a competition where an eco-hamper worth over £100 is up for grabs.

The roadshows are also an opportunity to meet the FREEC (Food, Residential, Ethics and Environment, Campus watch) reps.
