Loughborough University supports UK Disability History Month

As part of UK Disability History Month (22 November–22 December), Loughborough University will be supporting through a number of initiatives.

On Monday 25 November, the newly named Inclusivity Group will hold its first meeting.

The group is committed to achieving equality for all staff at the University, by working closely with the institution to develop a fair and supportive environment. Its main purpose is to raise awareness of both physical and invisible differences, including neurodiversity and mental health and to comment on University practices and policies.

It also provides a forum for staff to allow them to raise issues and seek support.

To coincide with International Day of Disabled Persons on Tuesday 3 December, Loughborough will take part in the #PurpleLightUp movement by lighting up the Hazlerigg and Rutland Buildings purple to show support for our staff and students with disabilities and the valuable contributions they have made.

On Wednesday 11 December, Head of Para Sport Nik Diaper will be a guest speaker for the group to share the plans for para sport at Loughborough.

Any member of staff who identifies as having or being affected by physical or invisible differences (including those who support or care for others) is welcome to join the Inclusivity Group. For more information, please contact Emma Nadin by emailing e.l.nadin@lboro.ac.uk.
