Loughborough student visits Number 10 Downing Street
A student from the School of Business and Economics was invited to visit Number 10 Downing Street earlier this month.
Temi Onafowokan – who is in her second year of studying International Business at Loughborough – went to meet the Prime Minister’s Special Advisor on Youth and BME Communities, Samuel Kasumu.
She was able to hear about Samuel’s work with the government, gaining an insight into his views on the country’s political landscape with the upcoming election. In addition, she was given a tour of the building.
She was also able to discuss the issues faced by BAME communities and how changes can be made from the bottom up.
Temi was invited to attend as part of a small cohort as she has recently been recognised as one of the Top 150 Future African/Caribbean Leaders in the UK.
She has also played a significant part in both the Loughborough Nigerian Society and the Enactus Society during her time at the University so far.
Speaking about the day, she said: “It was really a one in a lifetime opportunity and I am so grateful for being selected to attend. It was great hearing what Samuel's role consists of, and it was interesting gaining some insight into his views on the UK's political landscape, especially with the upcoming election looming.”
