Loughborough Student Village and Elite Athlete Centre win construction award
The University won the Large Residential Scheme of the Year Award at the 2019 ProCon Leicestershire Awards.
Representatives from the University as well as from the construction partners Bowmer and Kirkland, Church Lukas, Faithful and Gould and BWB were at the event to collect the award sponsored by Winvic.
The Student Village consists of 617 bedrooms, expanded to meet the increasing student population. The Elite Athlete Centre offers 20 adjustable climate rooms that can simulate altitudes of up to 5000m to aid high performance training.
Peter Goldsworthy, the Projects Portfolio Manager said: “We are delighted to be named winners of the Large Residential award. It represents the culmination of the collaborative working that has taken place between the University, the design team and the main contractor from inception through to completion.
“The project has already brought great benefit to the University through the provision of modern student bedrooms contained within a unique area and the opening of the Elite Athletes Centre for those competing at national and international level.”
