Vice-Chancellor welcomes alumni to annual reception at the Sky Garden

Loughborough University’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Robert Allison, held his fifth Annual Reception on Thursday 9 May 2019.

Hosted at the Sky Garden, part of the “Walkie-Talkie” building on Fenchurch Street, the Vice-Chancellor welcomed over 250 alumni, staff, students and friends to the iconic location at the heart of London.

The event began with an informal reception where guests were able to enjoy drinks and canapés, whilst enjoying views of the capital city.

Chair of University Council and Senior Pro-Chancellor, Sir Peter Bonfield, gave a welcome speech and reminisced his own Loughborough University days, before handing over to Professor Allison.

In his speeches, the Vice-Chancellor highlighted the recent successes of the University and launched “Loughborough Game Changers”, a campaign highlighting amazing projects at the University ranging from research and enterprise to sport and student initiatives.

Guests were able to meet some of the Loughborough Game Changers who are making change happen for the benefit of society. Representatives from projects such as Toxi-Triage, The Living Wage and Head Injury Prevention were in attendance to share their research with guests.

The night concluded with a further opportunity for guests to network, with many sharing stories of their time at Loughborough.

Photographs from the event can be viewed online.
