Loughborough academic discusses testing the 2018 World Cup football

As football fever continues with England’s last group match against Belgium later this evening, a Loughborough academic has been discussing the testing of the 2018 World Cup football at Loughborough University.

Andy Harland, Professor of Sports Technology and Director of the Sports Technology Institute, showed the team from the BBC news programme Click around some of the University facilities that contributed to the creation of the final product.

The Sports Technology Institute, which is part of the School of Mechanical, Electrical and Manufacturing Engineering, has been researching for global companies such as Adidas for over 20 years, and has various technology designed to show how a ball moves and reacts in different scenarios.

The show was broadcast earlier this month and is available to view below.
