Volunteers needed for Loughborough Lightning cricket match day

The Sport Development Centre team are looking for a committed and dedicated group of volunteers to support the Loughborough Lightning vs Yorkshire Diamonds game on 18 August.

The 2017 Kia Super League is the premier women’s cricket league in the country, starting this year on 10 August. It will see all six teams playing each other once in a league format.

The top three teams qualify for finals day at Hove on 1 September, with the second- and third placed sides competing for the chance to face the first-placed league winners in the final.

For the second year running, the University will run Loughborough Lightning as part of the competition and will host two home games over the coming months.

Whether you’re interested in cricket, want to gain valuable experience in supporting a high profile event, or just want to give something back, the team would like to hear from you.

This is a great opportunity to be involved with some top-level sport here on campus, with a range of roles available, including marshalling, merchandise, spectator services, and supporting pre-match entertainment.

In return for helping out, volunteers will receive food and drinks during the day, as well as a purple Loughborough Sport t-shirt – and of course, have fun at the same time.

The match starts at 4pm, but volunteers need to be available from 1:30pm for a briefing at 2pm. The game is expected to finish at about 8.30pm.
