Get involved in a department volunteering day!

Staff from across the University have been rolling up their sleeves and supporting community groups across Charnwood in a series of volunteering activities held recently.

Staff from the Planning Team headed down to Loughborough Railway station and helped tidy up the flower bed in April as part of Loughborough in Bloom.

Last month, 45 staff members from HR volunteered at the Outwoods helping to repair pathways, build fences and wooden bin surrounds for the park. The team picked a beautiful sunny day to volunteer and managed to get a lot of productive work done with the help of the rangers.

Rob Allan, Director of Human Resources, said: “I am delighted to see staff members getting involved with volunteering projects. Volunteering is a fantastic way to support local groups within the community and I hope even more departments take the time out to get involved.”

Steph Noble, CSR Intern at the University, said: “It’s great to have departments getting involved with a range of different volunteering opportunities.  A day’s work can really make such a huge difference and is also a great teambuilding exercise for staff away from the office.”
