University Stadium hosts Manchester United return fixture
A large crowd braved the elements at the University Stadium to see the Manchester United Youth XI side defeat Loughborough Students 2-0.
Goals from Sean Goss and Ashley Fletcher gave the victory to United, but the Students played their part in an entertaining game with Ben Ward-Cochrane finding the net in the last minute, only to be ruled out for offside.
It is the second time that Manchester United have visited the University and played a fixture against Loughborough Students.
The matches have been arranged in memory of Mike ‘Doc’ Holliday, Loughborough’s former football head coach.
Mike is credited with mentoring a number of University graduates who have gone on to progress in the world of football, including Paul McGuinness - head coach of the Manchester United Youth team.
