Participants needed: Are you receiving a flu vaccine this autumn?
3 September
- For Staff and Students
- Research participant call-outs
We are conducting a study to explore how body composition and metabolic health may affect people's immune response to the annual flu vaccine.
What is in it for you?
You will be reimbursed £60 in the form of vouchers (Love2Shop or Amazon, depending on preference/availability) for completing all three study visits at the end of your study participation (£20 per completed lab visit). We will also share some study results with you when the study analysis is complete.
Who is eligible?
• Adults who are planning to receive the flu vaccine through any provider;
• People without immunocompromising conditions;
• People who aren’t taking immunosuppressant, steroid, anti-inflammatory or weight loss medications;
• People are not actively trying to lose weight.
What does the study involve?
- An initial visit where you will complete questionnaires, have your body measurements and a blood sample taken.
- Two lab visits after your flu vaccine (after 1 and 4 months) to repeat the same procedures.
Total time commitment is around 2-2.5 hours over 4 months.
All study visits will take place at the National Centre for Sport and Exercise Medicine at Loughborough University, LE11 3TU and would be arranged around your availability. All study visits require you to come fasted therefore they need to be scheduled in the morning.
