Talent Match Summer Internships: Call to Schools and Departments to get involved

Information about the Talent Match Summer programme for schools and departments to submit a request to host an internship role.

We are delighted to confirm the Talent Match Summer Internships across Schools and Departments will be running again in summer 2026. This initiative supports the University’s strategic objectives in Education and Student Experience by enhancing students' skills for life and work, while also offering valuable, high-quality work experience opportunities.

Talent Match Summer internships will run for eight weeks from July to September and will have funding from a central budget for a set number of internships. This is a great opportunity for Schools and Professional Departments to progress their projects and fulfil resourcing needs with fresh perspectives, innovative ideas, and leading-edge skills. We anticipate we will fund circa 30 internships with an approximate 50-50 split of academic/research-focused and administratively-focused roles.

To host an internship, complete the form by Friday 20 February to submit your role(s). Please also share this communication with your school and colleagues.

Please note that, dependent on the volume of applications, we may not be able to fund all roles. If you are able to self-fund the internship in your department, please indicate this on the form, as it will enable us to offer more opportunities to benefit more students.

Careers Network will be responsible for marketing roles to students, collating applications, and shortlisting candidates. Schools and Departments will interview candidates and appoint their TM Summer Intern/s.

Key dates:

  • Application deadline for departments – 20 February
  • Schools/Departments advised of outcome of their form submission - 27 February
  • Roles go live for students to apply – w/c 16 March

  • Departments confirm to Talent Match team successful candidate by 15 May

As part of the Talent Match Summer internship programme, Careers Network will be providing a ‘wrap-around’ programme of support, including events and skills development opportunities for students and graduates. This will include a welcome event, four skills development workshops and end of internship celebration.

Please email employer.services@mailbox.lboro.ac.uk if you would like to discuss the Talent Match Summer Internships further.
