Student Central: Your New Hub for Student Support, Launching This October

Student Central branding in purple

Student Central brings together the support offered across some of our core, student-facing Professional Services to enhance the way we respond to student enquiries. Learn what this means in practice for both staff and students when the new model launches, and how you can support its successful implementation in the academic year 2026/27.

What is Student Central?

Student Central brings together frontline enquiry services from Student Records, Student Services, Student Finance and the PC Clinic into a single point of contact for students.

The team will resolve routine enquiries quickly and direct more complex cases to the specialist services best placed to help.

Alongside the physical service, a dedicated Student Central website will provide access to information, guidance and self-service resources. Students who need support using these tools can access assistance at the new iPad station beside the Student Central reception in the Bridgeman Building.

What does this mean for me?

If your service is directly involved in Student Central, you will already have received information about next steps and any required training.

For staff who regularly support or refer students, please direct students to Student Central as their first point of contact from the start of the Autumn term.

Please note:

  • Doctoral Researchers will continue to access support through the Doctoral College as normal, either directly or via Student Central.
  • There are no changes to School-based academic support arrangements during Phase 1. Academic enquiries will continue to be handled by School teams, supported by Academic Registry and Student Wellbeing and Inclusion where appropriate.
  • Where you would normally signpost students to central support services, please signpost them to Student Central instead.
  • The existing Student Enquiries counter in Rutland will close as in-person support transitions to Student Central in the Bridgeman Building.

Looking ahead

Student Central is a multi-phase project. Phase 1 launches for the 2026/27 academic year and will operate as a pilot, with opportunities for further improvements and service developments in future phases.
