Speaker nominations are now open for this year’s Claudia Parsons Memorial Lecture

EDI Services are pleased to announce that speaker nominations for the Claudia Parsons Memorial Lecture 2026 are now open.

This lecture series provides a platform for women in STEMM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Medicine) to showcase their work and achievements and to share their experiences of navigating a career in their chosen field. It also aims to provide encouragement and inspiration for those looking to pursue a career in STEMM.

For the first time, EDI Services are accepting nominations for internal speakers only to celebrate the talent and expertise of women within Loughborough University. Nominees must be women and working within a STEMM field. They should have clear professional achievements, but can be at any stage of their career. The nominee does not have to be an academic.

If you would like to nominate a speaker, please fill out the online form.

The deadline for nominations is 10 April 2026, after which nominations will be considered by a panel made up of members of the University community.

Claudia Parsons studied Automobile Engineering at Loughborough College from 1919-22 and was the first woman to circumnavigate the world by car. The lecture series in her name is now part of the institution’s Athena Swan activities, which contribute to the progression of gender equity at Loughborough.
