Windows 10 Laptop Service ending soon

Pale blue background and a blue icon of a laptop with the Windows logo on the screen.

The University’s Windows 10 Staff-Managed Laptop Service will end on 31 July. From this date, any remaining Windows 10 laptops will no longer function.

This is the final stage of our two-year programme to move University devices to Windows 11, helping to ensure they remain secure, supported and protected against cyber security risks.

What you need to know

  • If you are still using a Windows 10 laptop, you will receive a separate email shortly with details of the action you need to take.
  • All Windows 10 laptops must be returned to IT Services before 31 July.
  • Windows 10 Staff-Managed Desktop Service users do not need to take any action at this stage. Further information will be shared separately.
  • If you have already upgraded to Windows 11, no further action is required.

Please return unused devices

IT Services are also asking colleagues to return any University laptops or desktop computers that are no longer in use.

Please contact IT Services to arrange collection or return.

Where possible, returned devices will be upgraded and reused, helping the University reduce costs and make better use of existing equipment.

Thank you for your cooperation.
