Create and Connect are pre-bookable two-hour arts workshops for students only held on the second Tuesday of each month, usually in the Library. These Create and Connect sessions offer students a chance to meet new people, learn new skills and make something of their own to take away.
Each session is open to all students of any skill level and ability, and materials are provided. The suggested ticket price is £3 to cover the cost of the materials, with a ‘Pay What You Can’ option available at the EventBrite checkout.
The two upcoming sessions are as follows:
- Tuesday 10 February, 6.30-8.30pm – Create and Connect: Craft your own jewellery, Pilkington Library Seminar Room 1. Book your place
- Tuesday 10 March, 6.30-8.30pm – Create and Connect: Embroider a tote bag with words of empowerment, Pilkington Library Seminar Room 1. Book your place
Spaces at each workshop are limited and must be booked in advance. Visit LU Arts’ ‘What’s on’ page for further details and booking information.
If you don’t want to commit to a two-hour workshop, then LU Arts also run a monthly Pop-up Makerspace, which are also open to staff. These are free lunchtime drop-in sessions on the fourth Thursday of the month, held on different spaces on campus from 12.30-2.30pm.
Whether you have 15 mins or an hour there is something you can make and do in the time you have. There is a different focus each month as well as general arts materials including paper, paints, origami and colouring sheets.
The next Pop-up is on Thursday 26 February in West Park Teaching Hub, where the focus will be friendship bracelets and identity badges to celebrate LGBT+ History Month. Book your place.
Keep an eye on the LU Arts What’s On guide for future event listings.
