Windows 10 & 11 Staff Managed Service: Notice of fix for duplicate email issue

From mid-September, IT Services will be rolling out an update to all Windows 10 and Windows 11 Staff Managed devices to fix an issue where duplicate emails are being stored in the shared @mailbox 'Sent Items' folder when sending from Outlook desktop client.

Once your device receives the update, only one copy of each sent email will be stored in the shared folder.

The update will start to be rolled out from:

  • Windows 10 – week commencing 15 September
  • Windows 11 – week commencing 22 September

It may take a few weeks for your device to receive this update. However, if after a period of time, you are still getting duplicate sent items in the shared @mailbox 'Sent Items' folder, please report this to the IT Service Desk at IT.Services@lboro.ac.uk

Legacy shared accounts

After the change, if you’re using older shared accounts in Outlook (not @mailbox accounts), sent emails may go to your personal 'Sent Items' folder instead of the shared one.

This can only be fixed after the update is applied, so please contact the IT Service Desk at IT.Services@lboro.ac.uk if you notice this issue.
