This year’s theme is about access to services, and here at Loughborough, Student Wellbeing and Inclusivity (SWAI) are proud to share some new initiatives to strengthen the support available to our student community.
Neighbourhood Mental Health Café
In partnership with Falcon Support Services, SWAI are launching a Neighbourhood Mental Health Café – a safe, welcoming space for any student who would like a chat, a cuppa, and some friendly support.
The café will take place:
- Mondays, 6pm–9pm in Loughborough Students’ Union Lounge
- Thursdays, 6pm–9pm in Bridgeman Building reception area
Health, Wellbeing and Disability Referral Form
Navigating support services can sometimes feel overwhelming. To make things easier, SWAI have introduced a referral form for health, wellbeing and disability support.
All referrals will now come through this form. Once submitted, the SWAI team will review it and invite you to book an appointment with the most appropriate service for your needs, ensuring you get the right support as quickly and smoothly as possible.
School-specific wellbeing drop-in sessions
Every month, each academic School will host a wellbeing drop-in led by its dedicated wellbeing adviser. These sessions are tailored to the unique challenges and needs of students within that School.
You’ll receive an email with details of your School’s upcoming drop-in, so keep an eye on your inbox for dates and times.
#Me wellbeing and resilience course
#Me is a free 12-week course designed to boost your mental health, resilience, and self-awareness. Each week you’ll meet with a small group of around six students online or in person (as preferred) for an hour of guided discussion and support.
Groups are led by trained volunteer student facilitators, with flexible time slots (including evenings) to suit your schedule. In this safe, supportive space you’ll learn practical coping strategies, share experiences with like-minded peers, and feel part of a community that you can relate to.
The next course is due to begin 27 October.
Hear about #Me from previous students or visit #Me on Instagram @realhashtagme for more information.
Register your interest for the next #Me Course by 15 October.
