Protest in Loughborough: Saturday 4 October

The University is aware that a protest is scheduled to take place on Saturday, 4 October at 1pm at the Ramada hotel in Loughborough. The protest is against asylum seekers.

The protest is not directed at the University, but we recognise this may concern members of our community and we want to share clear information about what is happening as you may choose to avoid this area on Saturday. We know there is some private student accommodation (eg Luxurio) nearby, and we have been in touch with these providers on this issue. 

At our University we are committed to fostering a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment for everyone in our community. Information about support services the University offers can be found below if you feel you need it.

Support for staff          

Colleagues can access emotional support throughourEmployee Assistance Programme. Please note this service is also available for your immediate family members (eg spouses/partners, and children aged 16-24 in full-time education, living in the same household).  This service is also available for Doctoral Researchers.  

TheUniversity Chaplaincy(Email:chaplaincy@lboro.ac.uk, Tel: 01509 223741) offers a space for quiet reflection. University Chaplains are here to listen, to care and to help all staff and students. No appointment is necessary.    

Should you need some time away, we would like to draw attention to ourcompassionate leave arrangements, including our specific policy related to race-based stress.

If you feel your studies are being affected, you can contact your Academic School and/or PersonalTutors so that we can provide the right support to you.
