Dr Kathryn North commented: “I am thrilled to have been appointed to this new and important role. I am excited to lead a transformative initiative that will empower researchers and all those who are a part of the research ecosystem across the University. The Academy will provide enhanced support, foster interdisciplinary collaboration, and create new opportunities for developing our people to deliver leading research and innovation. This marks a shift towards a more connected research community and culture where researchers at all stages and in a variety of roles can thrive.
“By strengthening our ties within and beyond the University through the Academy, we will drive innovation that makes a tangible difference in society and ensures Loughborough remains at the forefront of pioneering research. I am looking forward to working with a wide range of colleagues from across the University to make this possible."
Professor Dan Parsons, Pro Vice-Chancellor for Research and Innovation said: "I am delighted to welcome Dr Kathryn North as the inaugural Director of the Research Academy, which will become a cornerstone of our Research and Innovation Core Plan and a vehicle for transformative cultural change across the University. Kathryn’s appointment significantly strengthens our ambition to foster a vibrant, inclusive, and high-performing research and innovation culture, empowering our entire University community, across career stages and job families, in tackling global challenges with creativity, rigour, and impact."
