The team won the Innovation and Collaboration Award for a training course titled ‘Contracts Fast Track to Success’ and for developing a community of practice for colleagues dealing with contracts in their role. Through a mix of self-study, skills-based training as well as self-service resources, the programme has successfully de-risked activities and supported colleagues’ overall wellbeing and professional development. Furthermore, this new approach has also improved the workload of the team.
Katy Boyle, Graduate Solicitor Apprentice, also received the AULP Rising Star Award. Katy, who joined the team as their first Legal Apprentice in 2022, has had a huge impact on the University, apprenticeships and the sector. A passionate advocate locally and nationally for the benefits of apprenticeships – particularly in relation to disability and social mobility – Katy has been dedicated to her work and seized every opportunity that has come her way.
General Counsel and Director of Legal Services Sam McGinty commented: "I couldn't be more chuffed for Katy and the team to be recognised in the AULP Awards. The work which led to the Innovation and Collaboration award was a real team effort, driven by Emily, but contributed to by everyone. Katy's receipt of the Rising Star award is testament to the impressive impact she has had within the overlapping communities of higher education, apprentices and lawyers. We are all incredibly proud of her."
The Awards recognise and celebrate the achievements of professionals and legal teams working in higher education. They highlight the excellence, innovation and dedication shown by exceptionally talented legal staff in the sector.
The award ceremony took place during a gala dinner at the AULP conference, which this year was held at the University of York. AULP is a Special Interest Organisation under Professional HE Services Limited, a campus partner.
