Hosted annually by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), Formula Student UK is Europe's most prestigious educational motorsport competition. It challenges student teams from around the globe to design, build, and race single-seater cars, putting their engineering knowledge, teamwork, and innovation to the ultimate student test.
LUMotorsport boasts a proud legacy in the competition, having participated since 2003. After competing with internal combustion (IC) powertrains until 2019, the team undertook the ambitious transition to electric vehicle (EV) technology. Now, in 2025, they are aiming to compete dynamically for the first time with an EV, marking a major milestone in their development.
The team’s 2025 entry, LFS25, features several major innovations, including the team’s first-ever CFRP monocoque chassis, a brand-new accumulator, and an all-new simplified electrical system paired with a reworked aero kit.
“Our goal this year is not only to run dynamically with our EV powertrain, but to build on our consistently strong static event performances,” said Hannah Eastlake, Team Leader of LFS25. “I am incredibly proud of the dedication, resilience, and technical excellence the team has shown in getting us to this point.”
With their eyes firmly set on a top 10 finish, the team has been completing the car build, testing, and preparing their resources across the design, cost, and business presentation events.
