Weather conditions at the East Midlands campus

Following overnight snow, the East Midlands campus roads have been checked and they are drivable. Please note there is slush, but we expect this to clear throughout the day.

However, with low temperatures throughout today and temperatures expected to reach below zero tonight, we anticipate ice to be present on untreated surfaces tomorrow.

The University will be gritting throughout today and clearing priority areas to mitigate any risk.

In such conditions, we ask campus road users and pedestrians to follow the below guidance:

  • Drive with caution
  • Reduce driving speeds and adjust braking distances to suit the conditions
  • Take care on untreated surfaces such as car parks
  • Wear flat, grippy shoes if possible
  • Avoid walking on areas which may be more prone to ice
  • Keep your hands free when walking (eg avoid carrying bags and being unbalanced).

We anticipate these conditions may persist until the weekend.
