Future Space Careers Insight event links students to future jobs

The Loughborough University London campus saw around 100 current students and graduates gathered for another Future Space Careers Insight Event.

Six panels of alumni, partners and collaborators came together to share top tips about their career success. Included on the stage were recent Loughborough University London graduates now working at the likes of EY, Amazon, BT and World Athletics.

Ben Cole, Head of Future Space said: “At Loughborough we really believe that the best teacher is often just the one who is slightly ahead of the learner. Our Careers Insight events really embody this as you have those who have just entered the global workforce sharing their insights with folk who are just about to make applications at the next stage of their career. These events build on the Loughborough network and help to build the community in and outside of our London campus.”

The keynote was delivered by Lara Di Ferdinando, a Senior Designer at one of Loughborough University London’s Talent+ partners IMG. Lara shared how her skills, and experience as a designer, plus her passion for sport and eagerness to pursue her own side hustles had made her standout early in her career. Lara gave top tips on approaching IMG and the behaviours, skills and experiences it was looking for in its global workforce.

The evening finished up with a  panel of Loughborough University London’s Talent+ partners. Sports Interactive, Plexal, 4Global and IMG. These employers work exclusively with Loughborough staff and students to build pathways into employment and knowledge exchange for those on the London campus.

Anantaajith Raghuraman, who officially graduates in December 2024 and is now working as a Football Tactics writer for The Athletic said: As an international student these events and the support from the Future Space team has been invaluable to me and I am sure will be to current students. I felt incredibly proud to be coming back as a speaker sharing my experience of securing a role in the UK. It is crazy to think that just 12 months after I was sat hearing how other graduates got their roles in the sports industry I was sharing my own tips about my progress with The Athletic.”

Professor Dermot Hodson, Associate Dean for Education and Student Experience at Loughborough University London said: Our Future Space events really connect our students to an incredible network beyond our walls. These events are an essential part of the Loughborough University student experience and provide a fun and impactful way to connect students to our global alumni and partner network.”

The next Careers Insight Event will take place in March 2025.
