Holocaust Memorial Day (27 January) is recognised annually across the world to remember the six million Jews that were murdered during the Holocaust, as well as the millions of other people killed from 1933-1945 under Nazi persecution and in genocides across the world since.
These events aim to educate, raise awareness and allow time to reflect.
The programme is as follows:
Thursday 25 January
1pm-1.50pm, SMB 0.02 (Stewart Mason Building)
Amanda Harrington from the Business School will deliver a workshop entitled ‘What were the warning signs of the Holocaust?’.
Friday 26 January
1pm-2pm, EHB 1.04
Dr Paul Maddrell from will deliver a lecture on ‘The Preventability of the Holocaust’.
4pm, Hazlerigg Fountain
Reverend Elizabeth York (Lead Chaplain) and students will lead a time of reflection including a minute’s silence.
Saturday 27 January
12pm, The Bandstand at Queen’s Park in Loughborough
Holocaust Memorial Day Commemoration. Chaplains will be available to meet any students or staff on campus who wish to attend and walk together. Please meet at the Hazlerigg Fountain for 11.30am.
