LSU supported 19 different projects that contributed to the local community, including helping with the campus nursery, assisting with youth clubs, chatting to the elderly, and encouraging young people to take an interest in STEM subjects.
Students involved also supported sustainability on campus, gardening in the local areas, improving school grounds and playing football with refugees. 205 students volunteered over the course of the week, with a total of 940 hours accrued.
Action Community Lead, Bryony Shutler, commented: "Students got stuck in with every project they went on and made such an impact on the people we volunteer with. We saw lots of new faces and students learning about Action and how to get involved with volunteering whilst studying at Loughborough.
"There was just such a warm buzz throughout the whole week. I’d like to think that the students got as much out of volunteering as they gave to the community!"
There are lots of ways to get involved in volunteering in the local community through the Students’ Union, with many projects taking place each week.
