The Institute of Physics launched its report on ‘Physics Powering the Green Economy’ at a reception at its Headquarters in London on 8 February 2024, which was attended by HRH the Duke of Edinburgh.

Professor of Photovoltaics for Power Systems Michael Walls, from the Centre for Renewable Energy Systems Technology (CREST) based in the Wolfson School, contributed to the report and can be seen stood with the HRH Duke of Edinburgh and other advisors in the photo above.

The report recognises that there is overwhelming evidence that global warming is caused primarily by the burning of fossil fuels. It advocates further investment in renewable energy research and development and points to the advantages of a thriving green economy providing employment opportunities in new environmentally sustainable technologies.

The report can be accessed online.
