Creative Wellbeing: A five-week series focusing on creativity and mental health

The University is running a five-week series focusing on creativity, mental health and wellbeing. The sessions are open to all students and will include talks from wellbeing practitioners, mindfulness sessions and artist-led workshops in tactile stitch and Mehndi art.

The series runs from Thursday 2 November to Thursday 30 November from 2pm-4pm each week and is a collaboration between the Student Wellbeing Team and LU Arts.

Each week you can get creative using materials from the arts trolley. The sessions are also a chance to meet other students who may have similar experiences and interests to you. Student Wellbeing Advisers will be on hand at each session to offer support and advice to students.

On Thursday 9 November the artist-led session will be a tactile stitch workshop. Mark-making drawings will be translated into tactile stitch processes, focusing on stitch as a way to calm the mind and reduce stress. No prior experience is necessary.

A Mehndi art workshop will take place at the session on Thursday 23 November. You will explore the basic patterns used in Mehndi art and practice your drawing skills before creating an affirmation greetings card. Again, no prior experience is necessary.

Places at all the sessions are free but must be booked in advance.

Book onto the Creative Wellbeing sessions.
