PhD students and early career researchers are invited to join a two-day bootcamp on 20 – 21 June offering expert guidance and support to take your research out of the lab and into the market.

The two-day bootcamp will be hosted by serial entrepreneur, ICURe champion and expert trainer in entrepreneurship, Mickey Clarke, alongside Loughborough’s Intellectual Property Management and Commercialisation team.

Working in multi-disciplinary groups, you will have the opportunity to explore your entrepreneurial potential and consider the impact your research can have on society, the environment and the economy.

You will leave with the skills and tools to identify and assess commercial opportunities, as well as the knowledge needed to negotiate the path to commercialisation. Topics covered will include:

  • An introduction to Intellectual Property (IP) and its importance in a business context;
  • The pathway to commercialisation, including value proposition, business models, securing grants and the support available through the University;
  • How to sell technical ideas to potential partners and investors through an elevator pitch.

The bootcamp will feature insights from successful University spin-out founders, and there will be opportunities to network and collaborate with other researchers.

After attending the two-day session, you will have the chance to pitch your research to an expert panel to gain feedback and apply this to your own future ventures.

Limited spaces are available and can be booked online.
