Belonging and Inclusion online training now available

We are excited to announce the launch of the new core mandatory training piece ‘Belonging and Inclusion at Loughborough University’. This training brings to life the core principles of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) and their importance to every person within the Loughborough community.

Belonging and Inclusion at Loughborough University is designed to give you a general overview of EDI, relevant legislation, inclusive behaviours and how EDI runs through every strand in our University strategy, Creating Better Futures. Together.

This new training, aimed at staff who have been at the University for a year or more, replaces the previous two mandatory training requirements of ‘Respecting Diversity’ and ‘Unconscious Bias’ and will need to be renewed every two years.

Professor Charlotte Croffie, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Equity, Diversity and Inclusion) commented: “The new Belonging and Inclusion online training is a user-friendly programme designed to enhance our understanding of and relationship with EDI. It is the culmination of the committed efforts of colleagues across Loughborough and covers a range of EDI topics using an interactive platform. I invite everyone to engage with it.”

If you are past your renewal date on ‘Respecting Diversity’ you will now undertake ‘Belonging and Inclusion at Loughborough University’ instead. However, you don’t need to wait for your renewal date to come around, the training is available to everyone now and the clock will reset for you if you do complete it before your renewal date.

For those who are new to Loughborough, there is an in-person workshop that runs once a month that should be booked. There are a limited number of spaces available each month for existing staff who would prefer to complete the training in this way.
