Top academic students celebrated at formal dinner

On 8 February, the Vice-Chancellor and the Pro Vice-Chancellor for Education & Student Experience hosted the Academic Excellence Awards Celebration Dinner to recognise and reward the top-performing students across the University.

Twenty-nine Scholars were recognised for their achievement as the top-performing students in their Schools for the previous academic year, and each received a cheque of £500. The Deans and Associate Deans for Education and Student Experience from each School and colleagues from Loughborough Students’ Union were also in attendance. The event included a drinks reception, followed by an awards ceremony and a three-course dining experience.

Professor Rachel Thomson, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Education & Student Experience) commented: “I am very proud of the achievements of all of Loughborough’s students and believe that it is important to take time to celebrate their successes. These Academic Excellence awards recognise the achievements of our undergraduate students in their studies.

“Not only have these students achieved academic excellence through their hard work and determination, but have also impressively fully participated in university life, whether as part of a club or society, through volunteering, and/or competing in a range of sports for their Hall or the University. Many congratulations!

“I would also like to take the opportunity to thank and acknowledge the contributions of staff from across the University who provide our students with a huge range of opportunities both within and outside of the classroom and support them to succeed.”
