Loughborough signs partnership agreement with Symbiosis International University

Loughborough University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with one of India’s leading private universities, Symbiosis International University (SIU).

The agreement took place following the Vice-Chancellor’s delegation to India in November 2022, where initial discussions were held with the Founder, President and Chancellor of SIU, Dr S.B. Mujumdar.

Professor of Computer Science and Engineering and Dean for the Faculty of Engineering at SIU, Dr Ketan Kotecha, visited Loughborough to finalise the agreement. Dr Kotecha met with the Vice-Chancellor and other senior academic staff including Professor Malcolm Cook, Dean of the School of Architecture, Building and Civil Engineering (ABCE).

The growing relationship with SIU has been made possible thanks to one of the Vice-Chancellor’s Special Envoys for India, Dr Kirti Ruikar, who is a Senior Lecturer in the School of ABCE.

Dr Ruikar commented: “I’m delighted that we are able to progress our relationship with SIU. Not only is there a great deal of synergy between their areas of academic strengths and Loughborough’s but also their values and ethos.

“SIU is committed to international collaboration and to offering their staff and students the opportunity to have an international experience. Their motto ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ translated from Sanskrit means ‘the whole world is one family’, which aligns with our international core plan and intention to build deep, multifaceted strategic partnerships.”

Loughborough already has strong research links with Symbiosis International University in engineering, so it’s hoped that this new development will expand to include other academic disciplines and forge new collaborative teaching partnerships.
