The University’s Finance team were recently acknowledged for their innovative efforts to improve the student experience through a new payment portal.

The ‘Implementation Excellence’ award recognises outstanding work in improving higher education student payment acceptance, with the University Finance Team being acknowledged for the new system which was launched at the beginning of this academic year.

This portal effectively removed a whole page of payment options and replaced it with a single button that only shows the options appliable to the payer. This increases the choice of payment methods for international students, simplifies the payment process for students and guardians, and helps protect students from fraud.

Jake Perkins, Head of Financial Control, said: “Our aim in implementing this new portal was to provide an improved payment experience for students and their families, particularly those paying from outside the UK. A lot of work went into making the new payment portal available in time for the 22/23 academic year, both in terms of the technical implementation and in ensuring that the right support resources were available on our website. We are therefore delighted that the hard work of colleagues from both Finance and IT Services has been recognised by this award.”

At the Annual Conference, WPM Education (Flywire) demonstrated their latest research and attendees had the opportunity to network with one another.
