Applications are now open for 2022/23 LU Arts Scholarships

LU Arts are offering up to nine scholarships to students in the new academic year, covering a wide range of art forms.

The scholarships are designed to encourage an interest in the arts outside of your degree discipline. Art forms may include (but are not limited to) any genre of music, creative writing, poetry, photography, film, animation, design and illustration, any genre of dance, performing arts, textiles, visual arts and crafts.

Awards will be offered to students who demonstrate their ability, passion and commitment to a particular art form. Each scholarship winner will receive a £100 cash prize and a tailored package of support worth up to £500 to help you to improve your skills.

Support could include:

  • Mentoring
  • One-to-one tuition
  • Masterclasses
  • The opportunity to showcase your work
  • Fees to attend industry events or training in other parts of the country
  • Materials/software/online training – although we will not fund the purchase of equipment.

Please note scholarships are not available to those who are already studying the art form. For example, if you are a student of Fine Art, you would not be eligible to apply for a scholarship related to this. There are two exceptions: English students are eligible to apply for creative writing scholarships, and Textile students are eligible to apply for visual art scholarships.

If you have any questions, there will be a virtual surgery held on Thursday 20 October 2022 from 12pm-2pm where you can find out more about the scholarships available, the eligibility criteria, and useful tips for your application. You can also direct any questions in the meantime to luarts@lboro.ac.uk

To apply for a scholarship, please download the application form available online on the LU Arts website. The deadline for submissions is midday, Monday 24 October 2022 and you can only apply for one scholarship per year.

If you’d like to find out more about last year’s winners or you’d like some inspiration for your application, you can read testimonials from the 2021/22 cohort.

Applications are open to all current Loughborough University students from both campuses. Previous scholarship winners are not eligible to apply again. If you have any accessibility issues and would like to discuss these in advance, or to discuss how these opportunities can be made inclusive for you, then please email luarts@lboro.ac.uk or call 01509 222948.
