Progressive Sports Technologies seeks participants for longitudinal study

Progressive Sports Technologies, a University spinout headquartered at Loughborough University Science and Enterprise park, is conducting a study aimed at understanding the effect of shoe models on running-related injury incidence.

As part of the research, they are looking to recruit 270 participants aged between 18-60 years old. No specific shoe sizes are required for this study.

The criteria for participants is as follows:

  • You must be a regular runner, covering a distance of between 15-30km per week, using the same running shoes

  • You must be willing to participate in the study over a 12-month period

The one-year study, which is due to start in November 2021, involves participants running in the shoes allocated and then filling out a short survey of around 6-10 questions after each run.

The questions will be about your current running load, performance, running style, brand preference and injury history (both running and non-running related).

As a thank you for taking part in the study, participants will receive two pairs of shoes at the beginning of the study as well as a £150 voucher for a running shoe company upon completion.

Those who are interested in taking part in the study should complete the baseline questionnaire here. For more information, please email running@progressivesports.co.uk.
