Christmas tree made of test tubes

The chemistry of Christmas and the science behind Santa’s skills… have you got a quirky festive video idea for social media? Get in touch!

Ready or not, Christmas is on the way and the University’s comms team is starting to pull together creative video ideas in a bid to spread a bit of joy on social media during the festive period.

The team is looking for academics that could help with quirky videos such as:

  • How to make gifts out of old household items, such as clothes
  • How a mathematician/scientist/engineer wraps a present using maths
  • The chemistry behind Christmas – maybe looking at the chemical reactions that take place when making Christmas foods, or a ‘how to make fake snow’ video
  • How an engineer would make Santa’s sleigh fly if Rudolph took a year off.

If the above isn’t your remit but you want to be involved, no worries! The team is open to hearing any weird and wonderful ideas from staff from across campus and from Loughborough University London.

The videos will be short and snappy, and shared on the likes of Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok.

If you’re interested in being involved, or have an idea, please email Social Media and Digital Engagement Officer, Emma Binns, at e.binns@lboro.ac.uk, and PR and Communications Officer, Meg Cox, at m.a.cox@lboro.ac.uk
