Support for staff and students distressed by events in Israel/Palestine

The images currently on news channels and social media of current events in Israel/Palestine are very distressing, and may have a particular impact on students and staff who have family members associated with the region or for anyone who has direct experience of similar events in the past.

For those students who may be affected, Student Services can offer support. Please call 01509 222765 or email studentservices@lboro.ac.uk and we will do our best to help you.

The Student Services team runs regular support groups for students who are international or are of a minority ethnic background in the UK. Please complete this form if you would like to access this support or would like more information. The Centre for Faith and Spirituality (E: cfschaplains@lboro.ac.uk, T: 01509 223741) has chaplains of various faiths who can offer support.

You can also contact your academic School and/or Personal Tutors if you feel that your studies are being affected so that we can provide the right support to you. Additionally, you can submit an individual Mitigating Circumstances claim if you wish to do so to explain how you have been impacted by recent events. More information on this can be found here

Any staff member who would like support can access the staff counselling service or the Employee Assistance Programme. Contact details for both services are here.

Any member of staff who would like confidential support which is specifically for those of a minority ethnicity (in the UK) and would take place with someone external to the University, please contact Student Services and this can be arranged for you.
