ASHRAE competition

Students: Enter your dissertation or research project in the ASHRAE Student Competition

The ASHRAE UK Midlands Chapter is calling for students from all degree levels with a dissertation project or current research on areas including zero carbon, renewable energy and sustainability to enter their competition.

To get involved you need to submit a five-minute presentation (maximum three slides) on any of the following by 28 August:

  • Sustainability
  • Renewable energy
  • Zero carbon
  • HVAC
  • Refrigeration
  • Building controls
  • IEQ (thermal, visual, IAQ, acoustic)
  • Building simulation
  • Data in building
  • Passive design
  • Building physics

Your presentation will be judged by industry professionals and there will also be a chance to hear from and chat to business leaders when the awards are announced via MS Teams on 1 September, 1pm-5pm.

PhD students will be judged in a separate category to undergraduates and master’s students.

The prizes for PhD students are:

  • 1st prize - £250 cash prize
  • 2nd prize - £100
  • 3rd prize – 1 year student membership to ASHRAE and 1 year smart start programme membership

The prizes for undergraduates and master’s students are:

  • 1st prize - £250 cash prize
  • 2nd prize - £100
  • 3rd prize – £100 worth of BSRIA guides
