Don’t miss the next meeting of LU Arts’ virtual book club

LU Arts is hosting the second virtual meeting of its book club on 12 May at 12.30pm to discuss Paula Hawkins Into the Water.

The book club is open to all current and former staff and students and meetings are held every six weeks to discuss a book chosen by the members. The club has moved online to continue providing a space for people to review books whilst the country is in lockdown.

Into the Water details the events and relationships as a woman returns to her hometown following the apparent suicide of her sister.

Content note: Into the Water details domestic abuse, rape, suicide and self-harm. (Please note that content notes are based on information available online. LU Arts staff do not read the novels in advance of them being chosen by book club.)

To join the video call please email d.m.bell@lboro.ac.uk. There is also a Good Reads forum where you can talk about the book with other members before and after the meeting if you cannot make the video call.

If you are looking for some suggestions as to what to read at the moment then you might be inspired by the Lockdown Literature article in LU Arts new online magazine The Limit. LU Arts asked a cross section of students what they are reading at the moment (fiction and non-fiction) in the hope that it might give others some ideas.
