Maia's White Ribbon Day Panel 2025

Join Maia as they mark White Ribbon Day 2025 with a powerful panel discussion exploring how men can be better allies to women (including trans women and non-binary people) within the University.

The theme of this year’s campaign is 'We Speak Up', encouraging men to challenge sexism and other harmful behaviours that contribute to violence against women and girls. This White Ribbon Day, the call is for more men to use their voices and speak up to create a world where everyone is safe, equal and respected.

Featuring voices from across academia and professional services, this event will unpack what meaningful allyship looks like, how to challenge harmful behaviours constructively, and what steps we can all take to foster safer, more inclusive environments. Whether you're just beginning your allyship journey, or looking to deepen your impact, this discussion will offer insight, reflection, and actionable guidance for all.

The panel will include:

  • Spencer Graydon, Chief Executive of Imago
  • Kat Halliday, Academic Librarian
  • Rakhee Patel, EDI officer
  • Dr Marco Pino, Reader in Communication and Social Interaction
  • Dr Oliver Hooper, Senior Lecturer in Physical Education and Youth Sport
