Loughborough AI Challenge Camp

The Loughborough AI Challenge Camp is a one-week event designed to increase diversity in the AI talent pipeline by engaging undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral students from a wide range of academic and personal backgrounds.

The Camp provides a hands-on, immersive experience where participants work in small interdisciplinary teams to tackle real-world challenges using AI, data science, and programming techniques. Each challenge is presented by an industry or academic partner, offering students the opportunity to apply AI tools to practical problems while gaining valuable insight into how AI is transforming different sectors.

Professor Diwei Zhou (Camp Lead) said: “This Camp opens doors for students from all backgrounds to engage with real-world AI and discover its transformative potential.”

This Camp features four diverse, real-world challenges representing major areas where AI is creating impact:

  1. AI for agriculture and food processing
  2. AI for climate risk modelling
  3. AI for air-quality assessment
  4. AI for business documentation management

Participants will be divided into groups and assigned to one of four AI challenges, each guided by a facilitator. Over the course of the week, groups will develop and refine their solutions, culminating in final presentations to a panel of experts.

If you are curious about AI, eager to solve real-world problems, or simply want to explore how data and technology shape the world around us, we encourage you to register your interest. Whether you are new to AI or already have experience, this Camp offers a supportive environment to learn, collaborate, and challenge yourself. Join us for an inspiring week and take your first step toward becoming part of the future AI talent community.
