'Don't Put a Sock In It' is about asking students and staff to do the exact opposite. It's about being brave enough to speak up, start difficult conversations and check in with your friends.
Tieing in with wider Movember activities across the University, LSU will be creating a spin on this worthy cause in a fun and memorable way by attempting to break the world record for the largest sock puppet performance. But they can't do it alone.
On Thursday 26 November from 12pm, all students and staff are invited to come along and get involved. Simply turn up with a pair of socks, get creative and help us make history!
The event will be held in the Sir David Wallace Sports Hall, where attendees can look forward to a varied programme of entertainment, alongside opportunities to come together as a community and learn more about the support available at the University.
Kieran Oliver, LSU President said: “This is much more than a world record attempt. It will mark the end to a month of sharing stories and conversations around men's mental health, all aimed at encouraging people to speak more openly and support one another."
Need help making your sock puppet in advance of the event? No problem. Alternatively, just come along with any old sock. LU Arts will be supporting by running free drop-in workshops ahead of the event, which will take place on the following dates:
- Wednesday 18 November, 12pm-2.30pm, The Lounge, LSU
- Wednesday 18 November, 1.30pm-3pm, West Park Teaching Hub
- Thursday 26 November, 10am-12pm, Sir David Wallace Sports Hall
